Alright I need some help. I have an almost 3 and 1/2 year old who refuses to use the toilet. He will use a diaper, his expensive super hero underwear, the bathtub, the backyard, anything but the toilet! Now I have been around this block twice before, you would think I had a grip on this potty training thing. Think again!! Just when you think you've figured it out, God sends you a 3rd born. I can't figure this boy out for the life of me. I've tried m & m's, shooting the cereal target in the bowl, bribery, begging, threatening, begging some more. We have read books, been to the store to buy "big boy underwear," had the diaper fairy come pick up the diapers for the "babies." Still nothing!! Any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Even if you've never done this before, clearly experience counts for nothing. I'M SICK OF DIAPERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ummm.... having another baby?
hehe.. just kidding. wow. sounds like a challenge. i have heard of people just locking themselves in the house for a few days and work on nothing but toilet training. but i think that's a little impractical with other kids to take care of.
how tough has your disciplining been? maybe this is one area where there needs to be consistent, and substantial disciplining (all without losing patience and going into anger).
i'm going to keep notes on this! do keep us informed on how it goes...
All mine are in-ies not outies and I hear outies are harder to train! :-)
Seriously though, give up the fight and let him be the one to do it. That's what it took with Amelia. As soon as it wasn't a big deal, she did it. The only other thing that helped us was finding a big kid that she loved and being like them.
Have fun with that~~oops. . .DCFS is here. Gotta go.
As requested: I will email you the details and pointers that worked for us. But a few things that helped Connor was we included him in the process. When I started to train him I made sure I had at least 2 weeks set aside of doing just this. The first few days I made sure he drank every hour so that he would want to pee a lot. It was up and down the first week, and this week has been WONDERFUL.
This is not my invention, Pam Pals told me all about this method, and freely shares!
There were times when discipline was needed, you can tell, and not a light tap anymore!! I'll let it at that (more in the email).
Hi Candi ... nice to see you on the net!
It's been a while - and thanks for the nice compliment on my blog ... I'm glad you're enjoying the new church - i hear things are really going well there!
